Scary text is plain text rebuilt from Unicode characters so it looks frightening, corrupted or not quite human. The signature recipe is zalgo: each letter keeps its shape but gets buried under stacked combining marks — the accents and strokes Unicode allows on any character — until the word appears to rot or bleed across the screen.

Is this a scary font generator or a scary text generator?
It generates text, not font files. A scary font is a file you install, and it only shows up where that font is embedded — your own documents or designs. A scary text generator swaps your letters for Unicode lookalikes and adds combining marks, so the result survives pasting into apps that let you type but never let you pick a font: bios, chats, usernames, comments.
What is zalgo text?
Zalgo text is the classic corrupted look: each letter is buried under stacked combining diacritical marks until it seems to decay or glitch, named after an old internet meme about a corrupted entity. The Scary Text category here opens with the heaviest stacks, and the Zalgo Text category offers graded intensities — light, medium and heavy — plus up-only, down-only and blackletter variants.
Why do numbers and punctuation stay the same?
Most scary styles build on lookalike alphabets that cover only the letters A–Z and a–z, so digits and punctuation pass through unchanged — a limit of the Unicode standard itself, shared by every text generator. Pure mark styles such as the zalgo rows are the exception: combining marks attach to digits too.
Where can I use scary text?
Anywhere that accepts Unicode text: Instagram, TikTok and X bios, Discord nicknames and server names, YouTube titles, gaming usernames and clan tags, story titles and chat messages. Some platforms restrict special characters in usernames, and very heavy zalgo can be rejected or trimmed — if that happens, try a lighter style.
Is scary text allowed on Instagram, Discord and TikTok?
Decorative Unicode text is generally fine — it is just text. The practical limits are character support and platform rules: some apps filter unusual characters in usernames, and extreme zalgo may trip spam filters or simply render poorly for other users. For anything important, a light scary style is the safest choice.
